Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal situated in the westmost regions of Europe in the Atlantic coast. Lisbon is the largest among all cities of Portugal, recognized as the alpha level global city in terms of its position in commerce, finance, international trade, tourism, education, media & entertainment. Lisbon is among the other economic centres in the European continent with a rapid growing financial sector with largest numbers of ports in the European Atlantic costal region.
Lisbon shares highest GDP per capita among other regions of the Lisbon and occupies 32nd position among the gross earning cities in the world. Lisbon is the political centre of Portugal and the central government Portugal operating from this city. Lisbon is among one of the oldest cities in the world and the oldest and modern capital in the Western European after London, Rome and Paris. The city of Lisbon occupies 7th position among the most visited cities of the Southern Europe followed by Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens and Milan.
Lisbon having a Mediterranean climate with warmest winter with an average temperature of 15 °C during Day and 8 °C at night during December to February. The summer season last during June to September with April at a higher temperature of 25 °C. Rain falls generally in winter and summer season is generally dry.
Lisbon is very well connected with other European cities via Airways, Metro. Trams, Buses and high-speed railway networks. Humberto Delgado Airport is the well-known air service that transports more than 25 million passengers annually. Highspeed rail system of alpha pendular link and motorway networks connects with all other cities of Portugal. Lisbon Metro networks connects the city centre with all other suburban areas. Sleep hills and narrow streets of the city centre is also connected by trams service. Lisbon also connected to other suburbs via extensive nus services & high-speed motor networks. Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Airport and Portela Airport) is the international airport situated at a distance of 7KMs from the city centre of Lisbon. This is the main international airport and the main gateway to the other European cities and the major cities across the globe.

The city of Lisbon is famous for its rich architectural marvellous, historical monuments, museums, and parks. Lisbon is well known for its annual Lisbon Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Lisbon International Documentary Film Festival, Street Magic World Festival, Animated Film Festival, Lisbon Book Fair, and the Lisbon Fish and Flavours festival etc. Two sites of Lisbon (Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery) are listed in UNESCO world heritage site.
